After the "late" night we slept in until 6:00am. Not wanting to wake any of the other sleeping hikers we collected our sleeping gear and walked down to a picnic table outside of the public bathrooms to pack. Slowly others began making their way down as well and before long it was pretty packed.

We figured it was a little too early to have much luck hitching back up to the trail so we began walking. About halfway back to the trailhead we were passed by a pickup taking Lefs and Captain back up. They honked and waved but did not stop for us. Ouch.

We climbed almost all day. We were rewarded with our first real views of the Sierras, however, which more than made up for it. We saw a quite a few nobos in the morning and then more again in the evening. While it seemed like a lot compared to the numbers we had been seeing it was nothing compared to the herd we would cross paths with south of Lake Tahoe.

Even with the late start getting back on trail we still managed 28 miles. We camped next to a creek that looked quite nice. Once we stopped moving, however, the mosquitoes found us. They were thick. With that as a motivator we set up camp quickly and ate in silence as attention was focused almost entirely on remaining mosquito-vigilant.
