The 4 days I was back in Boston felt like a blur. Thursday was spent catching up with friends. I had only told one person I was coming back so there were a lot of surprises faces. Most notably was a more elaborate surprise for my girlfriend, Lizy, orchestrated by my roommate Sami.

Friday was commencement itself. It was quite a long ceremony but I was definitely happy I had made the decision to be back for it. The afternoon was spent with my family getting lunch and wandering around Cambridge. Given the last minute nature of the decision they had only been able to make it up for the day. It was great to see them and a little scary realizing how close my little sister is to her own high school graduation.

Saturday was another day of socializing. I had lunch with Lizy and her family. Then back to campus to meet friends before an early evening nap. And then back to campus for the last part of the festivities celebrating MIT's 100 years since moving from Boston across the river to Cambridge. Yay free alcohol!

Sunday night I flew back to the west coast, this time to Seattle to meet up with Loopy. She picked me up at the airport at midnight and we headed back to her parents house. Her dad had offered to give us a ride back to the trail rather than dealing with rentals and hitching again.
