Captain's Log: Day 20 - Mile 430.4

We had a somewhat disjoint morning with Loopy up and out pretty early, we the Three Bears out a bit later, and Raptor out an hour after us having decided to treat herself to a hot breakfast.

It was a quiet morning with all of us hiking fairly spread out and leapfrogging with a few others from the campsite the night before. We all met up at a fire station for water and lunch. Things were a bit damp so everyone began laying items out to dry. No sooner had this happened did it start sprinkling. Loopy was not particularly happy about this:

It cleared up though and we set off for the last few trail miles of the day before the road walk detour for poodle-dog bush began. It's nasty stuff and none of us wanted to chance it on the overgrown section of the PCT.

We stopped briefly at a memorial site for the old fire station which had burned in 2009. The burned out shells of buildings were a slightly eerie backdrop for a break, but there was a picnic table and it was the last stop before a long climb on hot asphalt.

We made it in the campground at the end of the detour pretty early and had quite a while to massage feet sore from the hard road top. Mulan camped with us and the six of us had quite an extended dinner before calling it a night with the campground to ourselves.
