Captain's Log: Day 19

The alarm on my watch once again failed to go off audibly until 45 minutes after it had been set so we got a late start around 7:00am.

The morning was uneventful until we stopped for a snack at one of the many Highway 2 crossings. As we sat there in the pull-off we were passed by 50+ ultra marathoners practicing for the Angeles 100 mile trail run. It took around 20 minutes for them all to pass but I don't think any of us were upset by the extra time to eat.

An endangered species of frog had closed part of the trail and we ended up doing a 3 mile road walk along the highway before taking a side trail back to the PCT. We had a nice long climb after that and then relatively smooth (flat) sailing until we reached the campground. We did hit the 400 mile mark in the last stretch of the day!

The campground itself is at a nice low elevation of just over 5000 feet and it's balmy compared to the last few nights. We camped with a British guy named Mulan and hung out talking until bedtime at 7:30pm.
