Captain's Log: Day 14 - Mile 320.1
April 27
No hail this morning so that was nice. Unfortunately, camping next to a stream always means dew and in this case that meant ice on all the tents. It was another fast pack up and fast paced morning to get warm.
Mid-morning we stopped for water and a quick gear-drying session at a creek. Rickets and I discovered that we did not have nearly enough food to make it to the next planned town and that it would be close making to the closest alternative. Yay!
The next stop was further down the creek at some naturally occurring hot springs. There are no photos from this as the local bathers don't like to let clothing get in the way and none of us wanted to give the wrong impression. Alternating between the 104 degree pools and the chilly stream felt great.
After drying out we had a 12 mile push left to camp. It became clear that we would be fighting for spots as there were a lot of hikers out and only a few campsites on the ridge we were riding. After striking out at the planned location we found a stealth site big enough for all of us around the next bend. Rickets and I celebrated our last meal before the big sprint to food tomorrow and Jack Daniels made the rounds to ward off the chill.
