Captain's Log: Day 13 - Mile 293.8
April 26
I took a gamble and lost big time. I hadn't set up my tarp yet on the trip and even though the weather forecast had been questionable I decided to cowboy camp again. At 2:30am I woke up to a wet sleeping bag and hail coming down. I threw up my tarp and umbrella and went back to sleep.
At 5:30am I woke up and was unable to get back to sleep so I did the only natural thing and began waking everyone else up.
The trail was empty compared to previous days and the fresh hail/snow made for a quiet walk. We took none of our usual breaks because of how cold it was.
We took a quick lunch around 11:00am and afraid of the cold rain forecast for the afternoon pumped out another 10 miles to finish up the day at 2:00pm. The afternoon held more hail, naps, food, and finally sleep.
